Thanks Avera!

Thank you to Justin Falon and all the therapists and staff with the Avera Employee Assistance Program.  Your warm, welcoming atmosphere and open-minded presence this afternoon were refreshing and comforting.  I sincerely hope that our time today provided some insight for each of you into the possibilities that a Yoga influenced lifestyle can offer individuals.

  1. So, are there ways I could incorporate Yoga into my day besides an actual Yoga-workout?

  2. Yes Stacey,

There are many aspects of Yoga that can be incorporated in to a daily lifestyle which include the physical as well as the mental aspects of Yoga principals. One simple aspect to think about adding to your day is to maintain a sense of mindfulness through each waking moment. Another way to think of this is to stay present in each moment. For example: When answering the phone at work, really listen to the person you are speaking with and think only of that phone call in that moment. Don't think about getting the kids from school, entering information in the computer, what you are going to have for supper - just stay in the moment on the phone. Apply yourself completely to each task as it comes. When we begin to train our minds to keep focused on each moment, we may begin to feel a decrease in anxiety and stress and an increase in concentration and productivity. We may even experience the ability to move through our days with a feeling of lightness - rather than carrying around the burden of our ever-present to-do lists and constant chatter in our minds.
